OUR
PURPOSE
Institutional inequality in our educational system has always disproportionately affected students’ quality of and access to education. Every year, this inequality creates a rapidly growing divide that weakens educational achievement for students around the world. Hyphen bridges the gap, connecting students and teachers wherever they may be
DON'T LOSE YOUR GAINS
WHAT WE KNOW
Although full of fun, summer breaks contribute to significant academic inequality
50 %
of school-year learning gains in math is lost over the summer, a trend that increases with age through elementary and middle school
36 %
of school-year learning in reading is lost over the summer, placing more lower -income students at-risk of worsened academic performance

As students return to school this fall, many of them… especially those from historically disadvantaged student groups – will be starting the academic year with achievement levels lower than where they were at the beginning of summer break
